Services

Appliances we Service:

Southern Air Services, service the majority of warm air units manufactured by; McClary Balmforth; Johnson & Starley; Thorn; and Brink.

Warm Air heating units include; the early J-Series, the current High Spec range and the new Economaire range, which is the safest and most fuel efficient systems from Johnson & Starley. These system come with or without an integrated or separate water heater.

Complimenting the warm air units are the Johnson & Starley water heating range of Janus; Eljan; Hijan and Intejan which completes the family of units.

On average, a straight forward service will take about an hour although longer if other appliances are included such as a water heater or in the event of a necessary or essential repair to be carried out at the same time. If you are aware of any problem(s) with your unit please advise us when booking the appointment so we can reserve adequate time to attend any repair(s) and book later appointments accordingly.

Our expertise allows us to extend the life of your old warm air unit even after others may have given up or condemned it.

Our engineers are happy to give technical and practical advice on how to get the best performance from your warm air system - especially if you have not used warm air heating before.

Frequency of Servicing:

Manufacturers and the HSE strongly advise that all gas appliances, flues and pipework  should be regularly maintained and serviced at least annually by a Gas Safe Registered engineer, to ensure the system is primarily safe, efficient and reliable.

How often should a Warm Air Appliance be serviced?:

For peace of mind, most customers want their system to have an annual “check up”. We also offer our regular servicing customers priority “call out” in the event of any breakdown to their unit.

Book a Service with Southern Air:

You can request a service by telephoning our central office on 0845 603 7017 or 01264 748090 or by email via info@exclusivelywarmair.co.uk. We group together services in areas on certain days, so we spend less time on the road and our engineers are then more available to attend to unexpected breakdowns when they occur. Working smarter also helps us to keep our prices more competitive by passing on any savings we can make to our customers.

Our engineers normally carry out servicing between 9am and 5pm although sometimes the last service will finish beyond this time. We are sometimes able to arrange an early evening appointment, subject to a small supplement for this convenience to the customer.

Landlord and Home Owners Gas Safety Certificates:

Our engineers will carry out a tightness test of your installation and gas safety check of appliances, as required. We offer very competitive rates for a safety check carried out at the same time as servicing.

Landlords must arrange maintenance by a Gas Safe Registered engineer  for all pipework, appliances and flues, which they own and have provided for their tenants use. Landlords must also arrange for an annual gas safety check to be carried out every 12 months by a Gas Safe Registered engineer. Landlords must keep a record of the safety check for 2 years and issue a copy to the existing tenant within 28 days of the check being completed & issue a copy to any new tenants before they move in.

Health and Safety Executive demand strict guidelines and rules for all types of gas heating systems which are constantly updated and sometimes results in mandatory legislative changes. These changes apply to all systems, not just warm air. All gas operatives are obliged to advise the customer of any mandatory changes affecting their system together with guidance to carry out any work. In the event that a customer should decline safety changes, engineers are obliged, by law, to implement the Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure.

Breakdown & Repairs

Our central office is open Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm. Outside of these hours an answer phone facility will take your message. Please speak clearly and not too fast; leave your name; address and telephone where we can contact you and your call will be returned as soon as possible.

Customers who have their system annually serviced with us will receive priority over servicing and in the event of multiple breakdowns reported.

Upgrades & Installation

Should you be considering a replacement system, we are happy to discuss your requirements with you in your home. You may want to replace your warm air unit with a direct replacement, modern version, or we can recommend alternative options to upgrade your system. Technology constantly moves forward to offer greater efficiency, quieter and cleaner models. Dependant upon the size of the property to be installed in, there is a warm air unit suitable for any kind of dwelling.

Carbon Monoxide Awareness

Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a colourless and odourless gas caused by faulty or incorrectly installed gas appliances. Using special apparatus, our engineers can test your system for CO emissions to ensure the safety of the home occupants. They can also supply and fit, if required, a Honeywell CO Audible Alarms which conform to BS EN 50291. Please ask the engineer for advice.

HSE strongly recommends the use of audible carbon monoxide (CO) alarms as a useful back-up precaution but they must not be regarded as a substitute for proper installation and maintenance of gas appliances by a Gas Safe Registered engineer. Before purchasing a CO alarm, always ensure it complies with British Standard EN 50291 and carries a British or European approval mark, such as a Kitemark. CO alarms should be installed, checked and serviced in line with the manufacturer's instructions.
